Tip: GA4: Segments are Comparisons…or Segments? (It Depends)
Segments are a useful part of Google Universal Analytics, but they’re not exactly the same in GA4.
If you’re in the Reports dashboard, what you know as segments in Universal Analytics are Comparisons in GA4:
GA4: Comparisons
UA: Segments
In both cases you can add up to four different segments/comparisons at once.
In UA, you can save segments to reuse later. In GA4, you cannot save comparisons.
There is something called segments in GA4, and they’re available in Explore.
So, if you’re looking for the equivalent of UA segments in the Reports dashboard, the equivalent is “Comparisons.”
But if you’re looking for the equivalent of UA segments in Explore, then they are, in fact, segments.
These segments can be saved within a particular Exploration, but they are not accessible otherwise in GA4.
That is, you can’t use segments you create outside of the one particular Exploration where they were created. (If I’m missing something here, please call me out.)

Analysis: Do You Have What it Takes?
Now that you have identified your “purpose” on social media, it’s time to look at whether you have the resources to make your dreams come true.
Part I: When is a Good Time To Start?
The larger context for this series is whether you should launch a new social media account, and when it’s time to call it quits, (which is next week’s topic).
Even if you have identified the aforementioned purpose(s) with these potential new account(s), you may not be ready for launch.
Before moving forward, there are two evaluations to make:
Do you (or the person who will lead the way) have what is needed to properly run your new social media presence?
Does your team support the person/team leading your social strategy?
Let’s break these down into more detail before you grab your shiny new @handle.
