Welcome to Part I of Edition No. 38 of my weekly newsletter, providing practical analysis in the world of digital content strategy.
Highlights from Friday’s updates:
Twitter’s ‘Top’ Users Start To Go Quiet
Americans Under 30 Increasingly Use TikTok To Find News
YouTube Becomes More ‘Watchable’ Than Ever
Personal News: I started a new job Monday 🎃 as Senior Content Manager at BluWave in Brentwood, Tenn., on the southern border of Nashville. (Hence the delay in Part I of this week’s newsletter.)
I moved to Barcelona nearly 5 years ago, and met my wife here in 2019. This January, we’ll be moving full-time to Nashville.
I will continue to write the newsletter as it’s a big help for me to stay on top of the latest trends and tactics in digital content strategy. (And hear from some of you to keep me sharp.)
Thanks to everyone who’s subscribed since I started earlier this year. If you’re just browsing, here’s where you can learn more about the Gerick News(letter), including the benefits of going paid.

Tip: Easy GA4 Explore Filtering
Analysis: When is a Good Time To Start?
Tip: Easy GA4 Explore Filtering
I’m a big fan of Explore reports (and less so the standard Reports dashboard) in Google Analytics 4.
It’s more has more capabilities, is more visually appealing and the data appears to be more accurate.
There’s something else I particularly like, too: The ability to filter by dimension without having that particular dimension be a part of your report.
Let me show you.
In this report, I’m able to filter (bottom right) by any of the five dimensions you see listed (top left).
When we scroll up, you can see that Page title is the only dimension included in my reports, even though, again, I can filter by any of the other ones I have added to my “palette.”
Why would you do this?
It allows for filtering without visually crowding your report with too many dimensions.
Here’s a sample “final product”:
I have added a “Language exactly matches English” filter here, though the only dimension you see in the visual display is Page title.
Better reports, less clutter.

In the following weeks(?), I want to look at evaluating the necessary resources for a platform presence, and finally, when it’s time to get out.
The Big Question this week: What is Your Purpose?
