If you know of a conversion event you want to track that doesn’t yet exist in your dashboard, you can “reserve” it by going to Configure > Conversions > click New conversion event.
Add the name of the conversion event – i.e. sign_up – and click Save.
It will immediately appear in your conversions dashboard.
This doesn’t mean you’re collecting data, but as soon as you create an event of the same exact name (in this case, sign_up), it will be marked as a conversion from the start, ensuring you don’t miss out on any data.
